Richard J. Bishirjian earned a B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh and a Ph.D. in Government and International Studies from the University of Notre Dame under the direction of Gerhart Niemeyer. He did advanced study with Michael Oakeshott at the London School of Economics and studied Sanskrit at the Southern Asia Institute, Columbia University.
Dr. Bishirjian was a college teacher at institutions in Indiana, Texas and New York from 1969-81 and served in the Reagan Administration as a team leader, Reagan Presidential Transition 1980 and acting associate director USICA 1981.
Dr. Bishirjian was associate director, Boston University's College of Communication.
From 1989-1995 he engaged in financing business enterprises in Poland where he worked with Peter Mroczyk and other associates of Solidarity leader, Lech Walesa.
Dr. Bishirjian is founding President of Yorktown University .where for sixteen years he battled the higher ED establishment in a quest for Regional Accreditation. The history of that struggle was published in 2017 as The Coming Death and Future Resurrection of American Higher Education.
His Conservative Rebellion was published by St. Augustine's Press in 2015 and My Story, an autobiography and eighth book, was published in 2025 by En Route Books
